Stargate LARP & Lasertag

Posted August 23, 2010. Filed under larp. 3 comments.

This weekend, myself and around 30 or so people traveled up to the bush for some LARPing and laser tag. The theme: Military-styled training exercises inspired by Stargate.

The event consisted of a mix of shooting games and exploration/problem solving. However, most people were there for the pew pew. It was lots of fun. Though my arms are still a little sore from carrying fake guns around.

No Bubble Tea

I doubt that anyone was interested anyway, but there won’t be any bubble tea feature this week because I’m going to a Stargate LARP for the entire weekend. :)

So, on Friday the 13th

My car’s headlight bulbs blew out while driving at night… YES BOTH OF THEM! I AM NOT KIDDING!

Areas of Interest

I thought I might give this a try… Although whenever I say I’ll do a regular post of something, it usually doesn’t happen. But if these events happen regularly, and I have my camera charged, all should be good! Can’t hurt, right?

Although I think I’ll be doing more showing than telling. I seem to like taking photos and drawing more than I do talking about stuff.

So without further ado, here are two topics I’m thinking of featuring:

Live Action Role-Playing

On Saturday the 8th of August, I attended a role-playing freeform event hosted by Zeppelin Games, a steampunk LRP system based in Melbourne. People came dressed up in various steampunkish gear. We munched on food, and made attempts at a quiz-based scavenger hunt. It was all great fun and nice to see so many good role-players (I’m pretty hopeless at it myself).

Yes we’re grown ups who like to dress up and play pretend. Do you find this amusing? Well so do we! :)

Weekly Bubble Tea

Eew! What is that!? If you think that looks bizarre, check out the one my friend got! His are often more horrifying than mine.

What you see here is a variety of bubble tea called a “Calpis” (sounds a bit like “cow piss”). It contains a fruit-flavoured syrup, yoghurt and optional jelly or tapioca pearls. Typical bubble teas are either green or red tea with flavours, or tea with milk (like a milkshake).

Once per week I will feature one or two bubble teas.

Added Interactivity

Although I realise people can take themselves elsewhere for such things, I’ve decided to host a few mini Flash games for fun. These are not games I’ve created—But they are free to distribute. The Flash game I’m working on has been mothballed for the third time now… Beginning to wonder why I even wanted to start it. But it needs to be finished now!

I also have a Guestmap and some new avatar/user icons.
